Becoming Me

Who are you?

What do you dream about?

When did you last voice your opinion?

Where will your future lead?

How did you become the unique self you are today?

"Becoming Me is a wonderful guide in the journey of self-discovery for a child or courageous adult. As an educator and counselor I recommend this book for children. Growing up is full of adventure, questions and changes, Becoming Me can help children to verbalize and visualize their journey. Most importantly Becoming Me serves as a constant reminder that growth is continuing process rather than a project."

About the Author:

Formerly a Lutheran minister and family counselor, Dr. Linda Beattie Inlow lives on a farm in Washington State with her two children and a hodge-podge of critters. She spends her time writing, gardening, reading, volunteering and teaching.

She has written a number of non-fiction articles for magazines.

The author writes:

When I teach psychology one of the first questions I ask my students is, "Who is a mature?" Of course, nearly all raise their hands. I tell them that is unfortunate for if one looks to nature for signs of maturity the next step is death. I would much rather have them be in a state of maturation – becoming – then at the end of life’s journey.

I formulated Becoming Me for the reader to write about his or her journey. I wanted them to feel good about who they are, who they were and of course, who they are becoming. It is my hope that as the reader learns how special he or she is and grows with appreciation of his or her uniqueness – the reader will not need my counseling services or the services of another in later years.

Enjoy the journey of becoming YOU.

This book has been twelve years in the making. Dr. Beattie Inlow was searching for a comparable work to give to her young nieces and nephews. She wanted a book, which would enable the children to express themselves a individuals, foster their identity and build self-esteem. Finding none she began to research and develop Becoming Me.

It has been suggested the book could be used as a tool for home-schoolers, a text in religious studies, a medium in therapeutic situations and a gift for old and young alike.
