Two Keepsake Ideas:
Child's Memory T-Shirt
i.e. team sport T or vacation memento,
turn into a very useable and delightful pillow!
Directions:
Turn inside out.
Sew sleeves shut with ½ inch seam.
Sew hem shut leaving a 3" opening to stuff.
Invert shirt.
Fill with stuffing of choice (fiberfill works great!)
Slipstitch opening closed.
Use as decorative pillow for the child's room or great pillow for the car.
My daughter has pinned some of hers to her bedroom wall!
Child's T-Shirt Quilt
Directions:
Cut 10 to 12 inch squares from the front of your child's clean T-shirts.
Have 9, 16 or 25 squares.
For extra stability and strength iron on an adhering fabric pellon to the T-shirt square.
Sew the squares together using ¼" to ½" seam.
Cut batting to correct size.
Tack to quilt.
If available, use a favorite sheet from the child's bed as the backing.
Join pieces with right sides together leaving a space to invert quilt.
Close opening by hand or machine.
Tack with thread at corners or stitch a decorative design on the quilt.
